Shakti Movie Review
Finally NTR's Latest flick Shakthi has been out today with lot of expectations. The movie not only attracted the fans but also attracted the whole industry itself. Aswini Dutt said that Shakti is the highest budget movie ever in Telugu. Jr. NTR stated that except him no one else can do this film. Meher Ramesh added that late NTR would be once again seen on screen in this film, such is the intensity of Rudra character, that the way he potrayed.
Well, after hearing such statements from the hero, producer and the director, anyone on earth would expect an earth shattering film. Shakthi did shatter, not the earth but all the hopes and expectations. This is one of the poorly made high budget films in the past ten years. MeherRamesh proved himself again that he is poor in his direction.

Story:
Egyptian pair (Sonu sood, Pooja Bedi) eyes Shakti Peethams in India to get their mummies back to life. However, they come to know that it is not an easy task to get that Shakti Trishoolam as it was guarded by Rudra (NTR Jr.). Sonu Sood dies in his hands when he tries to get that Trishoolam. His wife (Pooja Bedi) avenges her husband’s death and takes an oath to fulfill his desire. After 27 years, when the time arrives, she sends his men to get the Shakti Trishoolam. For that she has to kidnap Aishwarya (Ileana) who is born with the special powers of Shakti Matha. She is safeguarded by Shakti (NTR Jr.) and what happens next is the rest of the story.
Analysis:
Talking about the movie the first person to be noted is NTR Jr. His performance is excellent and he proved himself again with his engergitic action.
Meher Ramesh seems to have a knack of picking the format of previous blockbusters and writing a new story in the same lines. His first film Kantri is a poor copy of Pokiri and it deservedly ended up as a flop. After making a below average film Billa, which is again a remake of Tamil hit, Meher is back in business.
Now, he took a cue from the biggest blockbuster of Tollywood, Magadheera and has written a story based on Shakti Peethams. When Magadheera is still afresh in the minds of Tollywood audience, making a film on the same lines is a bad idea. And when crores of rupees are at stake it is even more disastrous.
Shakti opens on a dull note. The concept of involving Egyptians in to this story didn’t work at all. The film is set up in 1984 and 2011 where the people are civilized and the kingly rule was vanished. But the director deliberately ignored many logics and blindly told whatever he felt like. May be he might have thought that anything is possible in a socio fantasy flick. When he has involved politicians, police and also military into this it is no longer a fantasy film, especially when the director revealed the period of time that the story is running in.
Even after ignoring logical errors, Shakti seems unconvincing and meaningless due to the lackluster script. The narrative too weak that you lose focus on the happenings within no time. First half of the film is sheer time waste. Interval twist is borrowed from Pokiri again.
The flashback part involving Rudra character has to be the lifeline for this film. But sadly that has turned out to be the major disaster. Meher Ramesh directly lifted dialogs and happenings from Magadheera in this part. Even NTR’s getup and outfit resembles to that of Charan’s in it. When the director faltered at the crucial juncture, there is no way that a film could survive. He might have tried to end the film with some sense so that the audience might have given him grace points. But the climax is ridiculously horrible.
Performances:
NTR Jr. is the only saving grace in this film. If not for him, audience might have walked out of the auditorium by the interval point. His performance as Shakti is cool. He looked dashing in those blazers in post interval scenes. However, he should have taken care on Rudra’s getup. It didn’t suit him at all. Even NTR diehard fans would be disappointed with it.
Ileana plays a spineless character which hardly gives her a chance to act. She has sizzled in the songs though. Sonu Sood’s role is limited and he is wasted. Pooja Bedi doesn’t know the basics of acting and watching her on screen is sheer torture. Manjari Fadnis played Rudra’s wife. There are hordes of actors in this film and none of them are given a purposeful role. Everyone looked pale and dull due to poor characterizations and bad dialogues.

Except for shooting in number of locations, Shakti doesn’t possess any visual splendor.
Meher Ramesh yet again proved that his skills are limited. He should stick to commercial flicks rather jumping the genres.

Story:
Mahadevaraya (Prabhu) is the Union defence minister and his father (SP Balasubrahmanyam) is from Rayala’s dynasty. Their forefathers give them a miracle sword and a Jwalamukhi (a diamond), which help them open the Maha Shakti Peetham, the highest powerful place than the Ashta Dasa Shakti Peethams across the country. The road to the temple is invisible so as the temple. It will come to light once in 27 years and the invisible temple is being safeguarded by one Rudra (NTR). Some Egyptians wanted to get the Trishulam in the temple to revive the lives of the mummies of their forefathers and become supreme. An Egyptian Pharaoh Mukhta (Sonu Sood) decides to bring the Trishulam at any cost and dies in the hands of Rudra and Rudra dies in the hands of Janakiram (Jackie Shroff), who was the minister with Mahadevaraya’s father. He snatches the powerful sword and kills Mahadevaraya’s parents too. However, the diamond remains with Mahadevaraya. What happens next should be seen on-screen.
Performance:
NTR as Shakti is okay. He has maintained good comedy timing and has done some impressive dances though the tunes are not that melodious. However, the second role (Rudra) played by him did not suit him at all. Ileana has just filled the glamour slot. Neither, she had any scope to perform nor has anything to do with the film. Manjari Phadnis, who played the wife of Rudra is also wasted, as she too had no role to play but to give birth to Shakti. Despite a huge star cast like Sonu Sood, Jackie Shroff, Sayaji Shinde, Prabhu, the director has failed to make use of any of their talents. SP Balasubrahmanyam’s role is little better, as he narrated the story in a perfect voice instead of taking a voice over by some others. Pooja Bedi is atrocious, as she failed to emote at all. Daniel’s character is superfluous and no human being could do such things. Comedy department has taken a backseat in the film.
Technical:
When it comes to the technical crew, Mani Sharma should be blamed first for giving such a poor audio for such a high-budget film. Neither the songs have the melody to listen, nor their presentation on the screen. The choreography of songs is also unimpressive. Dialogues by Satyanand are unimpressive. Cinematography by Sameer Reddy is good as he could capture the beauty of various locales of the shooting. Editing by Praveen is average. Director Meher Ramesh should take the blame for the poor narration of the film and the exaggerated storyline
Remarks:
The audiences just can’t understand how the director has convinced a senior producer like Aswini Dutt or a seasoned artist like NTR on the link between Egyptians and Shakti Peethams in India. In just one word, Meher Ramesh has made all the audience ‘April Fools’ on the ‘All Fool's Day’.

The first half of the film runs on a slow pace in a typical Telugu film style with NTR as a guide and few comic scenes on Ali, Krishna Bhagavan, Dharmavarapu Subramaniam. The interval bang is quite good, where NTR reveals the look of an NSG Commando secret agent. The last ten minutes before the interval leaves you pin high hopes on the second half. However, the second half of Shakti lets down your expectations completely. The Maharudra (NTR) characterization in the flashback episode lacks punch and energy and the costumes were another let down. The climax of the film is wrapped up in a hurried way with illogical sequences and senseless script.
While NTR’s performance, production values and the cinematography are the plus points, Meher Ramesh’s direction and screenplay, editing and Rudra’s characterization are the let down’s.

Ramcharan confirms Rachcha
Ramcharan, who is having a holiday in Miami will be back in hyderabad within 10 days.He will be starting his new movie Rachcha with director Sampath Nandi in mid April.
This will be produced on Megasupergood movies banner and Tamanna is selected as heroine.
Charan tweeted that “hello every1 ,another 10 days to go….im bak in hyderabad for a rocking non-stop year ahead.starting this movie RACHA(working title ).”
Charan is also planning to work on an action flick under V.V.Vinayak’s direction from mid july and also try to revive the stalled movie Maerupu this year.
