PERFORMANCES
Nagarjuna undoubtedly is the show stealer as a commando, with his charm and dignified looks. He played a distinct and a challenging role and has excelled in it.
Prakash Raj is as usual at his best in the limited role of Home Secretary. Poonam Kour as airhostess is good, Vijay as Colonel, Ravi as pilot are perfect, Harshavardhan as reporter is convincing, Pridhvi as film-actor could have done better. Brahmanandam as film-director is good.
TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT
KV Guhan’s cinematography is the major asset for this movie. Major part of the film is limited to two locations. But you hardly notice that it is confined to limited locations due to Guhan’s superb camera work. Background score is riveting in key scenes and just okay in few. Editing is fine. Dialogue could’ve been better. Production values are good.Radha Mohan is the real hero for this film. He has thrown a challenge to himself to keep the audience interested for two hours without any diversions. He came out in flying colors. His work is splendid in the second hour and it holds the key for Gaganam’s performance at the box office.
ANALYSIS
This is the first time that a Telugu movie is completely focused on a Hijack drama from first frame to the end. Not just that, Gaganam is different in many ways and moreover a very racy movie. Although the movie stars Nagarjuna, it doesn’t have songs, nor does it have physical fights for the star. It is content driven, screenplay based movie. Genre specific movie.
Director Radha Mohan (who won appreciation for his earlier movie, Akashamantha) puts together a tight narrative and does not give in to the temptation of stuffing the film with either songs, or separate comedy track. At the run time of about 2 hours, the movie doesn’t slack at anytime. Though it starts off rather unenthusiastically but it hooks you to the story as the movie progresses. Second half is riveting.

FINAL STATEMENT
Gaganam is different movie and very nice for all movie lovers. Nagarjuna’s charming performance, director’s narration in the second half, and short run time are its strength. All those who crave for good cinema would definitely appreciate it.
Go & watch it on Silver Screens.
