2010 Triumph Rocket Roadster Announced

When Triumph launched the Rocket some four years ago, it didn’t take much time to assert itself as a powerful brand for the burly guys. Over the past years, Triumph has first created a touring-friendly model called the Rocket III Touring. Then the fierce Rocket III Classic for the cruiser crew. For 2010, Triumph has announced the Rocket III Roadster – an ultimate muscle street fighter, as Triumph claims.

The Rocket III Roadster just has what it needed the most to suit its image- more power. It is fitted with a tuned version of the 2294cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 3-cylinder engine that has got a 15% rise in the torque output, pushing it to a flashy 165-lb ft. This startling figure is double that of Yamaha R1. With the mighty, fat Rotrex supercharger, it is expected to boost the power to 150bhp. The peak torque is attained at just 2,750rpm and the impressive power at 5,750rpm. It weighs just 807lbs (367kg) considering its humongous size.
The Rocket III Roadster is fitted with the British marque’s Antilock Braking System to rein in all that power. The Roadster is the first of the Rockets to sport ABS as a standard. Rocket Roadster features twin 320mm floating-discs with Nissin four-piston fixed calipers on the front. The rear set-up has a single 316mm fixed-disc combined with Brembo two-piston floating calipers. With these features, the monstrously juggernaut can carry any muscle hunk with ease and pace.

The Roadster’s ergonomics have been reconfigured to enhance the feel of a power-ride. The foot-pegs are moved back, lowered down and more inboard. Its new seat is a bit higher and more forward than before which reduces the riders reach to the handlebars. Thus, the riding position as a whole is more comfortable and relaxed with the plush new seats. The ride quality is even improved by the new Kayaba twin shock rear suspension. The motorcycle is easier to steer through corners and has better overall handling than any other Rocket III variant.
The 2010 Triumph Rocket III has a three-into-one exhaust somewhat similar to the Rocket III Touring model. New cans on both sides have been redesigned to emit more-power & torque and optimize the auditory experience. The Roadster has a sporty wind shield on the front and a more tapered, angular tank design. The Rocket III Roadster also makes a move to the dark side with its fork, yokes, rear springs and radiator-shroud all receive the blacken treatment. Two color options are available. The first one is Triumph metallic Phantom Black and the next one is Matte Black.

The 2010 Triumph Rocket III Roadster will hit dealership rooms in early 2010. Its retails price will be £10,949 ($17,462 US).
