Praja Rajyam Party president-turned-Congress leader K Chiranjeevi would lose his independent identity in the assembly once the formality of PRP merger with the Congress is completed.
The assembly staff is believed to have conveyed to Chiranjeevi that he would have to forego his independent chamber in the assembly lobbies. Besides, the separate legislature party office for the PRP in the assembly premises would also be withdrawn, the officials told him. At present, these separate offices are convenient for Chiranjeevi to relax during the break in sessions and hold discussions with his party leaders on the strategy to be adopted in the House.
Now, Chiranjeevi and his group will have to come to the Congress Legislature Party office which is already congested with several leaders. Otherwise, they would have to find some place in the ministers’ chambers in the lobbies. But, there is one option: If Chiranjeevi becomes deputy chief minister, he would have an exclusive peshi for himself along with supporting staff. Or if the PRP MLAs get berths in the state cabinet, they would have separate chambers, in which Chiranjeevi can take rest!
